Individual Bleed Control Kits for Schools

A wall-mounted public access station is installed in a hallway or cafeteria. An individual bleed control kit puts the right supplies in the right hands — staged in a classroom, carried by staff, or equipped on an SRO — so that whoever is closest to an emergency can act immediately without waiting for a cabinet to be unlocked or a station to be reached.

What to Know Before You Choose

The five products in this collection serve three different people in three different situations. Choosing the right kit starts with knowing who will carry or use it and where it will be staged.

For classroom teachers and staff. A kit staged in each classroom means the teacher does not have to leave the room or go to another location to locate supplies during an emergency. The STAT Bleed Control Kit and the C.A.T. Bleeding Control Kit are designed for this purpose—complete kits that include a tourniquet, gauze, bandaging, gloves, shears, and step-by-step instructions for use by someone without prior medical training.

For individual carry. The STAT Bleed Control Pocket Kit is a compact single-tourniquet kit for staff who want to carry personal bleed control supplies on their person throughout the school day. Smaller than a classroom kit, designed for a pocket or bag.

For school resource officers. The SRO Individual Response Kit is a more advanced kit designed for trained responders. It goes beyond basic bleed control to include supplies for penetrating trauma, including a chest seal, trauma dressing, and a hasty harness—equipment that requires training to use correctly and is not intended for untrained bystanders.

Which Kit Is Right for Your Situation?

STAT Bleed Control Pocket Kit. A compact individual kit containing one STAT tourniquet, compressed gauze, an emergency blanket, nitrile gloves, medical shears, and an instruction card. Designed for individual carry by staff who want personal bleed control supplies readily accessible throughout the day.

C.A.T. Bleeding Control Kit—Individual. An individual classroom bleed control kit built around the Combat Application Tourniquet — the official tourniquet of the U.S. Army and recommended by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC). Vacuum-sealed and portable, with gauze, pressure dressings, gloves, shears, and Just in Time illustrated instructions. Designed for untrained bystanders to be able to use correctly under stress.

STAT Bleed Control Kit. A full classroom bleed control kit containing two STAT tourniquets, two compressed gauze, two compression bandages, two pairs of nitrile gloves, two pairs of medical shears, one emergency blanket, and an instruction card, all in a MOLLE nylon bag. Designed for classroom staging where two people may need to be treated.

TACMED Bleeding Control Kit. A compact bleed control kit with a well-organized interior designed for quick access. Contains the essentials for controlling serious bleeding. Contact us for contents and bulk pricing.

SRO Individual Response Kit. Designed for school resource officers. Contains one C.A.T. tourniquet, two compressed gauze, one 6-inch emergency trauma dressing, one HyFin Vent chest seal twin pack, two pairs of Bear Claw gloves, trauma shears, and a hasty harness. The chest seal and trauma dressing in this kit require training to use correctly and are intended for responders with medical training, not untrained bystanders.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a classroom kit and a pocket kit?

A classroom kit is designed to be staged in one location and contains enough supplies to respond to more than one person if needed. A pocket kit is designed for individual carry—smaller, lighter, and intended for a single response by the person carrying it.

Do teachers need training to use these kits?

The classroom kits include step-by-step illustrated instructions, specifically designed for people without prior medical training. Stop the Bleed training significantly improves speed and effectiveness under stress and is strongly recommended alongside any classroom kit purchase, but the instructions are designed to guide an untrained responder through the process.

Is the SRO Individual Response Kit appropriate for classroom staging?

No. The SRO Individual Response Kit contains supplies—a chest seal and a trauma dressing—that require training to use correctly. It is designed for school resource officers with medical response training, not for untrained teachers or staff.

Can these products be purchased with grant funding?

Yes. Individual bleed control kits are eligible for several school safety grant programs. See the School Safety Solution grant resources page for current programs or contact us for documentation to support a grant application.
