We strongly recommend that any customers who wish to order a TeacherLock Door Lock first obtain approval from their authority having jurisdiction, typically the local fire marshall, to determine which lock is in compliance with local building codes.

This active shooter classroom door lock is designed to be installed on existing classroom doors. Fast and effective deployment, cost effective, and easy to install on any door. Deploys a durable bolting mechanism within seconds under duress using an easy to orientate activator without having to bend over or kneel down to floor level. Only individuals with the activator can trigger the classroom door lock, providing a bullyproof lockdown system. Accessible from the outside for emergency personnel.

This lock does comply with the International Fire Safety Code, International Building Code, National Fire Protection Association 101 provisions on safety, and the American with Disabilities Act regulations (Interpretation of building and fire code varies widely and is subject to the Authority Having Jurisdiction)

TeacherLock FAQs

YES. From the occupancy side, if the door swings inwardly, the user will need a flush mount strike kit. If the door swings outwardly toward the hall, then the standard kit will work.

YES. From the occupancy side, if the door handle is on the left, we call this a left-hand opening door. For customer convenience, we configure the TeacherLock™️ classroom for left or right hand for the user so they don't have to do it in the field.

IF the double door has a hollow support in between the doors, then in most cases, yes, TeacherLock™️ classroom door locks will work. If the double doors do not have a support (door jamb) in between then, unfortunately, these lockdown door locks are not a proper solution. We are excited to be working on a new product which will be released in the future to accommodate this. Stay tuned!

YES. Which is why we recommend ordering a few extra activators for substitute teachers, etc. It is also strongly advised to maintain an inventory of activators and tight control over their use and distribution.

YES. It is highly recommended to keep a tight control over this key. Typically, it is best to have one for emergency responders, one for administrators, and one for facilities.
